Who we are

Kashla is made by Expensear LLC (“Kashla”, “we”). This policy covers the Kashla iOS app and kashla.com. Questions go to the address at the bottom of this page.

What stays on your phone

Everything you log — expenses, salary and payday, budget cycles, subscriptions, goals, notes — is stored in the app’s own database on your device and backed up to your own iCloud, so it comes back after a reinstall or on a new iPhone. Apple stores that copy under your Apple ID; without an account we run no server that holds your ledger, and we cannot see it. With iCloud off, everything stays on the phone only.

Deleting the app removes the local copy; the iCloud copy brings it back when you reinstall. To erase that too, remove Kashla’s data under Settings › Apple ID › iCloud › Manage Storage.

What we don’t collect

• No account required: Kashla works without one. If you register with Sign in with Apple, we store the email Apple gives us (or Apple’s private relay address) and your name if you choose to share it — nothing else about you.
• No bank access: Kashla never connects to a bank, card or payment provider.
• No advertising SDKs, no tracking across apps or sites, and no sale of data — there is none to sell. Product analytics are anonymous, can be switched off in the app, and never include an amount, a merchant, your salary or your goals.
• No audio: voice logging runs through Apple’s Speech framework on the device; the recognised text becomes an expense and the audio is discarded.
• No receipt images: receipt scanning uses Apple’s Vision framework on the device; the photo is read and not uploaded.

Exchange rates

When a receipt is in a foreign currency, the app fetches the day’s exchange rate from a public rates service. The request carries only the two currency codes — never the amount, the merchant or anything about you.

Kashla Plus purchases

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. To know whether Plus is active, the app uses a subscription-management provider, which receives an anonymous app-generated user ID, the device vendor identifier and your purchase history for this app. This is used only to unlock Plus and restore purchases; it is not linked to your identity and not used for tracking.

Your account and the server copy (optional)

If you register with Sign in with Apple, your ledger — expenses, goals and deposits, subscriptions you track, and your settings — is stored on Kashla’s server so it syncs between your devices and comes back on a new one. It is stored in the United States, under your account only, and we do not read it except to run the service.

Without an account nothing of this is stored on our server; your phone and your own iCloud hold the only copies.

Delete your account from Profile at any time. That removes every row on our server, the sign-in itself, and our record of you at the subscription provider; Apple is asked to revoke the sign-in. Your Kashla Plus subscription is billed by Apple and continues until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings.

Usage analytics (anonymous, on by default)

The app sends anonymous product analytics. They are on when you install it, and one switch in Profile turns them off.

We receive which screens and features are used and whether an action succeeded — for example that a receipt was scanned, not what was on it — along with your device model, iOS version and the country the request came from. No amount, merchant, salary, goal or subscription name is ever included, and no name, email, phone number or account is attached; you are an anonymous identifier that does not survive reinstalling the app.

You can switch it off at any time in Profile, which stops collection immediately.

Budget together (optional)

If you choose to share a budget with a partner or roommate, only the expenses you mark as shared — plus the display name and emoji you pick — are stored on our servers so the other members’ phones can stay in sync. Sharing is off by default and decided one expense at a time; members see only what each person chose to share.

You are identified only by an anonymous ID created on your device — still no email or phone number. Your salary, savings, goals, subscriptions and every expense you did not share stay on your phone.

Leaving a household removes every expense you logged there from our servers; the other members keep only what they logged themselves. You can leave from Profile › Budget together or from Privacy & terms inside the app. Household data is held by our hosting provider and is deleted when the last member leaves.

Notifications

Renewal reminders, payday notices and nudges are scheduled locally on your device. Kashla does not use push notifications from a server.

Children

Kashla is a personal finance tool for adults and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will say so and this page will carry the new date. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
