Privacy policy

Who we are

Kashla is made by Expensear LLC (“Kashla”, “we”). This policy covers the Kashla iOS app and kashla.com. Questions go to the address at the bottom of this page.

What stays on your phone

Everything you log — expenses, salary and payday, budget cycles, subscriptions, goals, notes — is stored in the app’s own database on your device. We do not run a server that holds your ledger, and we cannot see it.

Deleting the app deletes this data. There is no copy to recover, so back up your phone if you want to keep it.

What we don’t collect

• No account: no name, email or phone number is asked for or stored.
• No bank access: Kashla never connects to a bank, card or payment provider.
• No analytics or advertising SDKs, no tracking across apps or sites, and no sale of data — there is none to sell.
• No audio: voice logging runs through Apple’s Speech framework on the device; the recognised text becomes an expense and the audio is discarded.
• No receipt images: receipt scanning uses Apple’s Vision framework on the device; the photo is read and not uploaded.

Exchange rates

When a receipt is in a foreign currency, the app fetches the day’s exchange rate from a public rates service. The request carries only the two currency codes — never the amount, the merchant or anything about you.

Kashla Plus purchases

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. To know whether Plus is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-generated user ID, the device vendor identifier and your purchase history for this app. This is used only to unlock Plus and restore purchases; it is not linked to your identity and not used for tracking.

Budget together (optional)

If you choose to share a budget with a partner or roommate, the expenses you log from that moment on, the shared budget for the cycle, and the display name and emoji you pick are stored on our servers so the other members’ phones can stay in sync. Members of a household see each other’s expenses; that is the feature.

You are identified only by an anonymous ID created on your device — still no email or phone number. Goals, subscriptions and everything logged before you joined stay on your phone.

Leaving a household stops sharing. Household data is hosted on Supabase in the United States and kept for as long as the household exists; write to us to have your rows removed sooner.

Notifications

Renewal reminders, payday notices and nudges are scheduled locally on your device. Kashla does not use push notifications from a server.

Children

Kashla is a personal finance tool for adults and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will say so and this page will carry the new date. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
